Record Dallas Snowfall

Record Dallas Snowfall

Thursday Dallas had a record snowfall. Our previous 24 hour total was 7.8 inches. This record was shattered by our 12.7 inches. We are currently two inches away from breaking the record for most snow during the season.

This was a snow unlike any I’ve been in. I remember as a kid we had a relatively heavy snowfall. My friend and I used a piece of Plexiglas to make a pseudo-sled. We tied a rope to it and has his dog pull us up and down the street. But one of the reasons it worked was because of the ice. That is what happens in Dallas, we get ice, or snow that turns to ice within an hour.

But this stuff has yet to ice over after two day (except some bridges). I usually hate this type of weather because I have to drive in it, but this hasn’t been a problem at all. The worst of it has been the slush, but that didn’t making driving too bad.

AND even though the roads were clear, the power went out all over the place due to broken tree limbs. This means that we had no power at the office Friday and school was cancelled for my wife…3 day weekend! And since the roads were fine, we got to get out and have lunch before taking some photographs. Nice way to start a long weekend.
